According to the national study on violent deaths within the couple, in 2020, 102 women died as a result of beatings by their companions. Women represent 82% of homicide victims. More than a third of the women killed (36 out of 102) by their partner were already victims of previous violence. Out of 36 women, 21 women were victims of physical violence, 9 women of psychological violence and 4 women suffered psychological or sexual violence. Among these 36 women, only 67% reported the facts to the police, which represents 24 women. Unfortunately, in 3 out of 10 cases of domestic violence, the perpetrator is already known to the police for having committed acts of violence.
